  2. When I was a little girl my mother would make me a new dress for my birthday and we would pick out the fabric and pattern together. I'm trying to start doing the same for my own kids. It's harder to sew for a boy though.

  3. I love having strawberry cupcakes on my birthday. I made them for myself this year and burnt my wrist on the oven rack - and how I have a nice scare to remember this little tradition. We'll see how long that lasts!

    HAPPY ALMOST BIRTHDAY FRIEND! :)

  4. Well, I am not here for the free giveaway; though I must say, you did find a great way to make people publicize your blog. :)

I look forward to my birthday from the next day itself, but never do much on it. I just prefer chilling on special ocassions. I guess I love lazing around.

I like the banner. It's nice.

I also think your artwork is groovy. Will recommend it to a friend who is into creatives herself.

    Adios,
    Ravi

  8. Hi Candice! Thanks for commenting on my blog. I came over here to visit, and stumbled upon your giveaway! How sweet! Favorite birthday tradition would need to be...getting to do whatever the birthday person wants that day, whether going on some sort of day adventure or going out to dinner, or both!

  10. Thanks for the great giveaway. My favorite birthday tradition is the same as yours. We always got to pick our favorite meal on our birthday. Mine was always fried chicken, mashed potatoes with white gravy and garden green beans. Now I am hungry.

  13. That would be the annual surprise ball. Not a dance, but an object.

Here's how to make one: assemble a group of tiny toys, paper fortunes, pennies ( or dimes if you're feeling flush) and a roll of 1" crepe paper (or newspaper strips glued into a long line. Pick the best toy and start wrapping (like you would a hand-rolled ball of yarn). Add pennies, toys and fortunes as you go until you have a very BIG BALL. Change colors of crepe as you go if you want to be fancy.

The birthday girl (me, for instance) found this ball on her plate along with a sour cherry muffin on the big day. Unrolling the ball was always done with a flourish.
